FASTLANE (2021)
Synopsis
Dawson Miller is a young former driver whose Greenlight career ends in a near-fatal wreck; rival Zayn Brown is tied to the crash. Broke, Dawson moves in with his younger brother, Alvin Miller. The romance starts from that low point - Dawson out of the spotlight, trying to start over.
When Dawson can afford a car again, he and Alvin race for fun. Irene Falkenberry drives past, stops to watch, and talks to them once they pull over. She only races because she followed his Greenlight years, but she plays it casual at first. Banter turns into interest, and for months they keep crossing paths around the city.
When Irene admits she knew who he was from the start and has feelings for him, Dawson is ready to meet her there. The film ends with them together - what she wanted since she first saw him race.
Production
FASTLANE (2021) was the first feature released under the 5-Star Films banner, premiering July 26, 2021. The wider saga continues in FASTLANE 2 (2023) and FASTLANE 3 (2026) - together they form the FASTLANE trilogy.
The shoot was grueling, and the film was nearly cancelled. 5-Star Films had not yet built its own FiveM filming server, so the team could not reliably lock in weather, time of day, or how many characters could be on screen at once.
Production used the public FiveM racing server Impulse99, where random players could walk into frame, ruin setups, or grief takes. Creator Rylee Simpson also had to earn in-game money through other activities for the sole purpose of buying the house interior for Alvin’s home.
Like RACER GIRL (2022), FASTLANE was shot without a script. That shows up as a messy plot structure, uneven pacing, and continuity issues throughout.
